As promissed here  I will show you a bit more about this book. It is far from finished, but it is a big joy to work in it. And the meat we eat comes largely from animals eating grasses. Pictures from the same encyclopedia and 3 diecuts ( of handpainted paper) of 3 animals, another fox, an owl and a chipmunk ( ?). Inspired by many demo’s by Seth Apter ( see here)  I tried out how to make two ‘coherent’ papers, one for the background and one for diecutting, using the same colours on both papers, but making them different enough to make the diecut stand out from the background. This came out off it and I like it. 🙂 Timeless Here I’ll show you some stages in the process. Although  I am a bit injured still ( 3 weeks ago I did fall from a low but steep bank and my scootmobile landed on top of me) I have finished another altered book. In Dutch, this time. In maart 2014 begon ik aan mijn 4de steampunkboek. Nu is het eindelijk af. Ik ben er best happy mee, vooral omdat ik er naast steampunkfoto’s ook meer zelf in durfde te tekenen, acryleren en aquarelleren. Ook gebruikte ik veel van mijn steampunk-stempels en -mallen. Daarbij komt dat het oude boek waarin ik werkte een fantastisch fijne binding had en het papier van prima kwaliteit was. In het boek uit Laos liet ik jullie de diecuts zien die ik maakte van met alcoholinkt beschilderd dun karton. De kleuren waren zo prachtig dat ik er naar kon blijven kijken. Om de inkt goed te laten vloeien heb je een chemisch goedje nodig ( blending solution), werkt prachtig, maar kost 10 euro voor een klein flesje. Dus besloot ik eens te proberen hoe het met  90% alcohol zou gaan, daarvan had ik al een tijd een grote fles van in de kast staan. Eerst probeerde ik het op papi

In december 2013 kreeg ik een bijzonder boek van mijn allerbeste vriend Bert. Hij had het voor me meegenomen uit Laos. Het is een handgebonden boek van handgenaakt papier, gemaakt van vezels van een speciale plant. De kaft heeft een reliefstructuur door het er in verwerken van vezelkoord. voorkaft Ik wist/ weet niet hoe het papier zou reageren op  inkt of verf en ik wilde de schoonheid van dit bijzondere boek niet verpesten. Hoewel ik het vaak ter hand nam om er van te geniet
